The 8-year-old orphan whose uncle drove 3-inch-nail into his head (read here) has been discharged from the hospital against medical advice while the case against his uncle was allegedly dismissed by police.
Vanguard reports that representatives of Lagos Child Protection Network, visited Sagamu Road Police Division, Ikorodu, where the suspect, Mr. Friday Paul, was being detained and they were informed that the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, has dismissed the matter, claiming that accusations against the suspect were fictitious and he had no case to answer.
The whereabout of the suspect, who was discharged by police, is currently unknown. His home at 6, Anjolarin Street, Odogunyan, Ikorodu was locked, indicating that he had relocated.
There are allegations that the IPO speaks the same dialect as the suspect and this is probably the reason for the special treatment. A senior police officer, who pleaded anonymity, informed Vanguard of this and said his colleagues may have been compromised. It was also gathered from the source that some police officers went to the suspect's neighbourhood and warned neighbours and sympathisers to stop divulging information to the media. Residents, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the female Investigative Police Officer, IPO, visited the neighbourhood to warn them to stay out of the matter or have themselves to blame.
The staff at Saviour the Rock Hospital were also allegedly warned by the Police to desist from talking to the media or risk persecution. The senior police officer further disclosed that the IPO and the suspect’s senior uncle visited the hospital over the weekend to withdraw all the exhibits from the hospital, after which the boy was discharged against medical advice. He said the suspect has now relocated to an unknown place.
The source said: "We have enough evidence to prosecute the suspect for child abuse, assault and attempted murder, but our Oga (DPO) and IPO are shielding him for reasons best known to them. There are many exhibits relating to the crime: belt, nail, X-ray film, radiological report, GP’s report from General Hospital, Ikorodu, and referral letter showing nail in the head. “Also, there are pictures of the injury site before and after the surgery and pictures of the previous scars on the face, forehead and legs. But for reasons best known to the DPO, the suspect was discharged and acquitted over the weekend."

Yesterday, notorious kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike a.k.a. Evans, filed a Fundamental human rights lawsuit against the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris and three others, over his continued detention by the security operatives since his arrest on June 10th (Read here).
According to a report by Vanguard, Evans's father, Mr. Stephen Onwuamadike also filed a 27 paragraph affidavit in support of the suit.
In the affidavit, Evans’ father argued that his son had been subjected to media trial instead of being tried in a competent court of jurisdiction. He argued that his son had not been granted fear hearing in any court and is now being judged by the reports published by the media.
Evans's father added that since his son’s arrest, all his family members have been denied access to him while media practitioners have been granted unhindered access to him. The court is yet to assign a judge to the case and also fix a date for hearing.
Meanwhile, the IG of police said they have a court warrant to hold Evans for at least 3 months.

A 48-year-old Nigerian man was savagely pulled out of a train by two ticket inspectors of the Deutsche Bahn German train system because he did not have a ticket. The man had been discovered when the inspectors got to him during a check.
Upon discovery, they asked him to show an ID card and pay a €60 fine but when he couldn't, he was forced out of the train.
A witness captured the inspectors on camera as they engaged in a struggle with the man who vehemently refused to leave the train. The Nigerian fare-dodger held on to metal handrails and refused to let go as two men in uniform struggled to get him out of the train headed to Munich city center from the airport. One of the inspectors can be seen grabbing the man's neck and pulling him towards the door while another tried to remove the man's hand from the rail.
A woman filming the scuffle can be heard screaming at the inspectors and accusing them of racism. She said the guy did not do anything and had given them €9 in cash out of the €60 fine he was asked to pay.
She can be heard saying: “It’s absolutely not OK what you’re doing, the guy didn’t do anything to you. You should be ashamed of yourself, this is racism what you’re doing. Why are you doing this? He paid.”
The woman continues filming until someone seemingly tries to stop her. She later told Huffington Post that the Nigerian man pleaded with the men and told them €9 was all he had and he needed it for food, yet they collected it from him and still threw him out of the train.

When the inspectors finally got the man out on the platform at Leuchtenbergring station, he was forced to the ground with his face pressing against the asphalt. The same woman can be heard yelling at the inspectors again, saying it's “because he’s black.”
Commenting on the incident later, Deutsche Bahn, the company operating trains in Germany, said it was “unusual to receive only partial payments”. The company also stated that the man was acting aggressively and refused to leave the train and that's what led the inspectors to use force. The witness, however, refuted this and described the man as having remained calm.
She shared the video on her Facebook account, adding a caption that suggested he was rough handled because he was black. The post sparked outrage with a lot of people commenting that it had nothing to do with racism and the man was at fault for not paying then refusing to comply with the inspectors.

22-year-old Pedro Ruiz from Halstad, Minnesota and his pregnant girlfriend, 19-year-old Monalisa Perez, decided to carry out a stunt which involved Ruiz holding a book to his chest while Perez shoots at it.
Ruiz had convinced Perez that he had performed a similar stunt where he shot but the book kept the bullet from going all the way through. He encouraged Perez to try it on him. As the camera started rolling, Ruiz held a different book close to his chest while Perez fired a 50 caliber handgun from about one foot away. The book did not stop the bullet and it hit Ruiz in the chest, killing him.
At about 6:30 p.m. on Monday night, Norman County sheriff’s deputies were called to the 500 block of U.S. Highway 75 on a report of a shooting and on arrival, they saw Ruiz with a single gunshot wound to his chest. Efforts to save him proved abortive. A medical helicopter was called but Ruiz was pronounced dead at the scene. Family members have described the tragic incident as a YouTube stunt gone wrong.
Monalisa Perez, has been charged with second-degree manslaughter. She told investigators the shooting was captured on video. She showed them two GoPro cameras that had been set up -- one on the back of a car and one on a ladder. Deputies have seized the cameras as evidence.
Ruiz’s aunt told Valley News Live that the couple had been trying to get famous on YouTube. They had tried several other pranks and with each new one they did, they took their stunt a notch higher. Other pranks they posted to YouTube included sneaking a hot pepper into a sandwich and putting baby powder on a doughnut.
"He had told me about an idea. I said, 'don't do it, don't do it,'” Claudia Ruiz said. “'Why are you going to use a gun? Why?'”
Perez appeared in Norman County District Court via interactive TV on Wednesday afternoon. She was released from jail, with bail set at $7,000, with conditions. Perez will have to wear a GPS monitor and have no access to firearms during her release. The date for her next court hearing is scheduled for July 5.
