The incident occurred at 6 PM when a group, comprising hundreds of locals, held a protest demanding all Africans living in Greater Noida region vacate their rented houses immediately.

The locals also claimed that the boy was seen spending time with these Nigerian students and accused them of cannibalism. However, the Nigerian students were released owing to the lack of evidence.

Obasanjo revealed how he built a church while in prison and won souls for God

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has revealed how God made him  build a church during his incarceration at Yola Prison and later won the souls of several inmates including a notorious robber/murderer who later became a pastor with Baptist church.

Speaking at the Shepherdhill Baptist Church in Lagos, last Sunday, during a Thanksgiving Service to mark his 80th birthday, Obasanjo called on Nigerians to work for God no matter the circumstances they find themselves.

“One, God made me to build a church,” Mr. Obasanjo said. “It’s very unusual, I asked the authorities for land, they were reluctant, but eventually they gave me land and immediately we started getting donations.
“It was started before I left Yola. Wherever you are, you can still be useful to the work of God.”
Obasanjo said he also got approval from prison authorities to farm while in detention and he cultivated “enough beans to feed all the inmates and warders.”

When he was transferred to the Kirikiri Prison in Lagos, Mr. Obasanjo said he became the prison pastor and won several souls for God.

"There was a boy whom they had introduced to me, his nickname was Baba Ali,” the former president said.

“Baba Ali was the head of the armed robbers in the North. And if you were an armed robber and you came to prison, you must first of all go and pay homage to him. If you were going out, you must go to him and ask for instruction on what to do next.

“So I called Baba Ali one day and said, ‘You are not coming to fellowship, I want you to be coming to the fellowship.’ And he said, ‘Baba, don’t worry me, don’t worry me at all because God can never forgive me. I have killed so many people in my life, I have drunk the blood of so many people, I have eaten the flesh of so many people and God will never forgive me, so don’t waste your time about me.'”

Mr. Obasanjo said he left Baba Ali for a while, and then returned later to continue his evangelism.
“I went back and said, ‘Baba Ali, you know all you said that you are a murderer, whether you killed only one person or a thousand people, you are a murderer; but you have forgotten that Moses was a murderer but God used him to bring the people of Israel out of Egypt?

“David was a murderer but God called him a man after my heart. By the time I was leaving the prison, I told Baba Ali that if he was able to make it and he would like to go to Bible school, I would send him to Bible school.”

Baba Ali was released from prison two years after Mr. Obasanjo, the former president said, by which time he had been elected Nigeria’s president.

“It took him two years to get through to me, when he got to me, I reminded him of our agreement and he said he was ready to go to the Bible school.

“So I sent him to the seminary, Baba Ali spent two years in the seminary. Today, he is a pastor of a Baptist Church. What is more? Baba Ali’s junior brother took after him and has also become a pastor"

Dear Nigerians, why are we committing suicide? Article written by: Adedayo Showemimo

According to the World Health Organisation, every 40 seconds, one person commits suicide somewhere in the world, which tallies to 800,000 suicides annually, worldwide and if you own a smartphone in this part of the world, you would have surely read one or two suicide stories in the past week.

Back in 2016 when Psychologist and lecturer at the University of Lagos, Prof. Oni Fagbohungbe, said that suicide may increase in Nigeria, we all laughed it out as a social media joke.

In his words, 'With failure, frustration here and there and inability to do things one’s heart desire, self-reproach comes in. Then, aggression also comes in. The individual reacts to the society which is perceived as the cause of your failure. These are the kinds of situation that aggravate suicidal tendencies'.

With recent happenings in the country, the reality is setting it and we can go on to list the countless numbers of suicides reported in the past week.

1. The story of 35 year old medical doctor, Allwell Orji who parked his car and leaped off the 3rd mainland bridge is still very fresh in our minds.

2. There's also the news of a 60 year old man, a chieftain of PDP, Dr Isaac Ojukwu who committed suicide by setting himself on fire in a rented hotel

3. And then the story of the young Fulani boy whose body was spotted hanging from a tree in a bush at Lariye Village in Zaki

Not to mention the series of suicides on Facebook live and of course the many suicides stories that never make the news or get on blogs.

So what really is the problem?

Experts say financial and economic troubles push many to the edge in Nigeria, which is rated 103 out of 157 countries in the United Nation’s 2016 World Happiness Report.

The prevailing economic crisis, recession and poverty in the country is obviously a factor to consider in all these. But then, suicide is really not a new thing.

A 2012 report by WHO states that over 800,000 people die of suicide annually and that it is the second cause of death among young people between 15-29 years.

How to Help a Suicidal Person

At this rate, we all need to do more, we must genuinely show love and concern for people around us and here are a few tips that can help us all save lives in these trying times.
  • Always take suicidal comments very seriously. When a person says that he or she is thinking about suicide, you must always take the comments seriously. Assuming that the person is only seeking attention is a very serious, and potentially disastrous, error. Get help immediately.

  • Listen attentively to everything that the person has to say. Let the person talk as much as he or she wants to. Listen closely so that you can be as supportive as possible, and learn as much as possible about what is causing the suicidal feelings.

  • Let the person know that you are deeply concerned. Tell the person that you are concerned, and show them that you are concerned. A suicidal person is highly vulnerable and needs to feel that concern.

  • Comfort the person with words of encouragement. Use common sense to offer words of support. Remember that intense emotional pain can be overwhelming, so be as gentle and caring as possible. There is no script to use in situations like these, because each person and each situation is different. Listen carefully, and offer encouraging words when appropriate.

  • Don't be judgmental. Do not invalidate anything that the person says or feels. The person is probably suffering from a chemical imbalance in the brain, and thus could not possibly think clearly. Be supportive and caring, not judgmental, but get help immediately.

  • Be careful of the statements that you make. You do not want to make the person feel any worse than he or she already does. Again, the person is probably suffering from a chemical imbalance in the brain and is thus extremely sensitive.

  • Listen, listen, listen. Be gentle, kind, and understanding. Again, allow the person to talk as much as he or she wants. Always listen very attentively, and encourage him or her to talk more. Be as gentle, kind, and understanding as possible.

  • If the person is at a high risk of suicide, do not leave him or her alone. Do not leave a critically suicidal person alone for even a second. Only after you get professional help for the person can you consider leaving him or her.
Nigerians now celebrate people with questionable wealth – Pres Buhari says

President Buhari yesterday said the decay in the value system in our society has led to celebration of some Nigerians with questionable wealth. President Buhari said this at the 65th Annual Council Meeting of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) in Abuja.
President Buhari, who was represented by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, said public servants and many Nigerians in the private sectors who have questionable wealth are now being celebrated with alumni recognitions, honourary degrees, chieftaincy titles and sometimes higher religious titles in the country.
“Today the attainment of wealth, power or educational influence is the mark of success which is not necessarily a bad thing except we are no longer concerned with the process of attaining success. The end it appears today justifies the means which explains why cheating in exams and fake certificates simply do not generate the sort of outrage that such conduct would have generated years ago. Public servants and many in the private sectors who have unexplanable wealth are celebrated in one form or the other with alumni recognitions, honourary degrees, chieftaincy titles and even higher religious titles. Often, cheating is with the collusion of parents and teachers. This only reflects the failure of values in our larger society.”he said.

Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, asks National Assembly to cut the powers of CBN governor

Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has asked the National Assembly to reduce the powers of the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Adeosun made the call when she received members of the House of Representatives Tactical Committee on Recession led by Bode Ayorinde in her office yesterday March 21st.

According to Adeosun, the enormous powers given to CBN governors have resulted in the some of the financial crisis witnessed over time. She added that the excessive powers have caused some of the CBN governors in time past to act on financial matters without recourse to the minister of finance, who according to her is constitutionally required to supervise financial policies, programmes and activities of the Federal Government.
“I want to correct the impression that the CBN is under us. They are not. Unfortunately, a law was passed, making them independent and giving them more powers. This has resulted in one person having so much power. In the time of Prof. Charles Soludo as CBN governor, he went to the National Assembly asking for more powers and you can see where that has taken us to. So we are back to the legislature to help us correct this problem of too much power. As a result, there are no checks and balances” she said
'We are not afraid of Trump's sanctions, we are prepared to counter attack the U.S' - North Korea boasts

Following North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's failed missile launch on Wednesday coupled with the four ballistic missiles fired into the sea of Japan early this March, U.S president Donald Trump has promised to crack down on North Korea as they now pose a very serious threat to world peace and order.

But reacting to claims by the Trump administration to use 'military action' if necessary on North Korea following recent visits by secretary of state [Rex Tillerson] to Japan, South Korea and China,

North Korea has claimed they don't fear any new U.S sanctions, and Choe Myong-nam, deputy ambassador at the DPRK (North Korean) mission to the United Nations in Geneva said 'Supreme leader' Kim Jong-un is developing a “pre-emptive first strike capability” and an inter-continental ballistic missile (ICBM) that will be tested soon.

Reacting to Donald Trump's plans to inflict more drastic measures to counter North Korea’s nuclear and missile threat, Choe said;

“I think this is stemming from the visit by the secretary of state [Rex Tillerson] to Japan, South Korea and China … We of course are not afraid of any act like that,”
“Even prohibition of the international transactions system, the global financial system, this kind of thing is part of their system that will not frighten us or make any difference.“ Choe told Reuters.

North Korea claims their missile tests is a result of plans by Japan, South Korea and the U.S to invade their country soon, saying Rex Tillerson's visit to their neighbors was mostly about using military action on North Korea.

“All he (Rex Tillerson) was talking about is for the United States to take military actions on DPRK,” Choe said.
'North Korea rejects claims by Washington and Seoul that the military drills are defensive. They involve strategic nuclear bombers and a nuclear submarine that recently entered South Korean ports', he said.

“In the light of such huge military forces involved in the joint military exercises, we have no other choice but to continue with our full acceleration of the nuclear programmes and missile programmes. It is because of these hostile activities on the part of the United States and South Korea.”

“We strengthen our national defence capability as well as pre-emptive strike capabilities with nuclear forces as a centrepiece,” Choe said.

Chloe meanwhile refused to to give technical details of North Korea’s latest rocket test even though his country called it the 'greatest historical event' that would lead to “fruitful outcomes”.

“I can tell you for sure that the inter-continental ballistic rockets of the DPRK will be launched at any time and at any place as decided by our Supreme Leadership,” Choe said.

Military analysts believe it won't be long before North Korea masters the technology of making an  ICBM (Inter continental ballistic missilie) to hit the United States as they have already mastered the process of getting the missile powered.

“The United States has been talking about launching pre-emptive strikes at North Korea,” Choe said. “And we have been prepared to deter, to counter-attack such attacks on the part of the United States.

“We would utilise every possible means in our hands and the inter-continental ballistic rocket is one of them.”

Pastor Lazarus Muoka visits Ebonyi State for a live transforming Holy Ghost Crusade, "Gods Time to Take Care"

When this visit was announced by the General Overseer of the Lord's Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries, Pst Lazarus Muoka few months ago, the State was left in a state of ecstasy, the indigenes of that land celebrated this good news with joy. This is because, the last time a Mega Event of this sort was held in that land was in 2008(9 years ago, precisely).

The program titled, "Arrival of the Master" was an epoch making event, the glory of God was felt in that land. Indeed, the Master himself - Jesus Christ validated His manifest presence by signs and wonders of old, myriads of signs and wonders as was recorded in the Bible Days were seen everywhere, in the course of that programme, the people recording the Instant Miracles lost count of the impotent folks that got their healings in the crusade.

It may interest you to know that in the history of Ebonyi State, such has not been seen or recorded. In fact, God's move was magnetic in nature during the programme, it was a cynosure of all eyes, men came from different walks of life to grace the occasion and they all left with dumbfounding testimonies.

There's absolute decorum in the kingdom of darkness too on announcing this biggest event in town, reason being that the last time Chosen train visited the land, it wasn't an easy one for them, there's total massacre in their kingdom, many of their captives were set free. They are still in shock even uptill now. In fact, their heads are already buried in shame.

Apparently, it is no longer a hidden news, the one behind this programme that will be coming up in few days time - Jesus Christ has gone ahead to water the land, He and His Entourage are already on hand, there shall be total obliteration of evil in that land, every works of the devil shall be destroyed, what happend nine years ago in that land is just an insignificant fraction to compare with what God will uncork this time around, it shall be unparallel in all dimension.

We are therefore using this medium to extend an invitation to you. Be our guest on 18th and 19th of March, 2017 at International Market Ground, By OgojaExp-Road, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. The time for this duo dated crusade is 8amdaily.

The Lord Jesus Christ is awaiting to do you good, He has a sledge-hammer in His hand to break every closed doors and barriers working against you, all these years. Your victory and testimony is sure as you attend this program. There shall be Salvation, Sanctification, Holy Ghost Baptism, Deliverance, Healing and lots more.
